Longer component video cable

I was gonna go with one of those but decided to just buy a long component cable to extend it, when necessary.

I too have decided to simply extend the cable. Mostly because I can wrap up the short cable that comes with the camera and zip-tie it to the camera strap. This way the extention cable can hang freely, without pulling on the camera's connection (as a longer cable itself might).

I know what you mean. I'd probably be more likely to get a shorter cable for that came reason. Anyone make a 1' D4-component cable? HA! :D

I would love a couple of 1 foot D4-component cables.

Anyone have a possible source?

Thanks,

Just got mine from i-O Data today. I sure noticed a drop off in signal strength and quality with this one. How bout anyone else, do I have a bad one? Would like a different source to try as well.

I have read many complaints about the IO-Data D4 cables. I have their Linkplayer2 (a great device, I might add), and it uses D4. The cable that comes with it is pretty poor quality.

I had a link a while back to a high-quality cable that JVC was selling. I can't find the link anymore, but if I do, I'll post it.

Here's the JVC link, ordered on yesterday. Quite a fall off of signal measured into a componet scope with the I-O Data cable. before our OEM cable was destroyed I remember the signal being much more pleasing into our 21" HD LCD. It had much less aliasing and sharper edges. I have a resource that is going to look into making a few of these things "post-house quality" with good shielded cable and BNC connectors. If he comes through, I know it will be the best quality, and I'll let you all know. is anybody else interested?

old thread ,i know. I have an AvelLinkPlayer2, use it for playback of my HC1/FX1 HD stuff. Works great, no statter, nice n smooth.. and soft. Not soft-soft, but definitelly looses the crispiness of the original HD footage, especially the one from the HC1. I see you guys got the JVC D4 replacement cable and wondering if it made any difference in the quality of the playback.
Thank you.

I'm not using a vectorscope, but I don't see any signal deterioration when viewing on my Dell 24" monitor. It looks as crisp and clean as it does with the cable that came with the HVX.

Absolutely!! I've contacted quite a few custom cable manufacturers myself and so far no one was able or prepared to make a short, high quality D4 to component BNC cable - so if you have any luck please put me down for a couple.
Thanks.
