long MTS > DVCHDPRO > P2 = missing clips??

Ok, so any help here would be greatly appreciated,

I recorded some long interview segments that resulted in 7 mts files.
Dumped the AVCHD structure to an external hard drive (fat32)
Used the panasonic tool to transcode to DVCHDPRO (P2 virtual) on same drive
Using Avid Media composer
Imported the P2 structure media

Only portions of footage is imported.

WTF?

On the HD the P2 format lists all the clips with naming eg. (1000JT) then the next clip is (1000NB, 1000GC, etc.)

Problem is only the first clips of a numerical digit is imported such as 1000JT, and then 1001P9!!!!! leaving off about 4 clips in between with the 1000 prefix.

What did I do wrong, or is there a way to fix this?

thanks in advance for any help from someone that is familiar with this workflow......

OK, so I figured it out.

When taking the AVCHD clips (fat32) then converting using the Transcode tool to DVCHDPRO to a (fat32) drive it splits spanned clips with numerical 1000+letters when the new file is larger than 4 gigs.
Not a big problem except Avid will not import the P2 card structure of the new assigned letters having the same numerical prefix.

I solved this problem by transcoding to an NTFS formatted drive that will not split and assign new letters to the clip names due to a 4gig file limit.

So yeah (fat32)..........screw you.
