For Sale:
1 - LOMO Foton 37-140 Anamorphic Zoom Lens, complete with Anamorphic Front Element
1 - Back Lens Cap
1 - OCT18 to PL Mount Adapter (thrown in for free)
This is an EXTREMELY rare lens. These lenses pop up for sale from time to time without the Anamorphic Adapter. This lens comes COMPLETE with the anamorphic element that attaches to the Spherical Zoom Lens.
You can also remove the front Anamorphic element, and use the lens as a spherical zoom lens. I can provide full detailed instructions to whomever purchases. (Very Easy - you just need to know how!)
As an experiment, I have also taken off the adapter and used it on my set of Zeiss Superspeeds. The result was an anamorphic image that combined the flare characteristics of both the Superspeeds and the LOMO Anamorphic! When attached to a 25mm Zeiss Superspeed, the image still covered 5K Anamorphic mode on the EPIC! This combination is about the widest anamorphic lens you can have!
I am only selling, because I currently have other LOMO Anamorphic lenses, and more often use primes than zooms, so I'd rather this get used regularly than sit on my shelf and only get used twice a year.
The Lens has been used, and there is evidence of use cosmetically. It looked like at one time there were scuffs or fungus (viewable in the 4th picture), but has since been cleaned, and when used with proper lighting the end result has not affected any of my images as far as I can tell. There is a scratch towards the edge of the front element, but it seems to be outside the image area.
For Anamorphics, the wide end is very wide at 37mm, and on the longer end of the zoom, the images are very pretty, with a nice oval bokeh (think the background on closeups in Mission Impossible movies). This lens can also produce fantastic anamorphic horizontal lens flares when you want them (ie Star Trek, and every other music video you see today)!
I'm throwing in a free OCT18 to PL Mount adapter with the lens, which is how I used it on the RED EPIC, ARRI Alexa, and Panasonic AF100 cameras. It's not a high-end adapter, but it works ok. This way you can use it on either an OCT18 or PL Mount Camera, or you could rebuild it with a stainless steel PL Mount.
The lens needs to be lined up properly when attached to the camera (support to lock in the anamorphic element the right height). I used about $100 worth of zacuto parts with success, but other dovetail options are also out there.
Asking $6000 or best offer. I'll try to put up pics tomorrow. Please PM me with any questions.
