Looking to purchase a

Lomo roundfront 50mm or 35mm

and Iscorama Cinegon in good condition.

Cheers!

FYI you may want to look into the 35mm squarefront if you can find one. First off it's a whole lot lighter (and cheaper!) than the 35mm roundfront, and it actually distorts less than the roundfront does!

They pop up from time to time, a set of roundfronts 35/50/75 sold on ebay in the UK last week for a bit over 9k.

The Roundfronts (35/50/75) went for $11.1K eventually. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lomo-round-...ilm_Cameras&hash=item4cfd85e05c#ht_500wt_1156

That was a shocker price... and not one to be repeated (IMO) - RF's are averaging about $5K+ (each) - I'd be surprised if this is repeated (unless they're lemons and are sold on!)... I couldn't move on these as I've committed funds to other stuff :(

The sort of range I'd expect for RF's is more like this - $26.3K (RF 35/50/75/150) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lomo-anamor...ses&hash=item1e6789995f&afsrc=1#ht_500wt_1288

Rob's right on the 35mm Roundfront - big, heavy and lots of barrel on it. The Square is much better - but not really something that AC's like much.

Wow I didn't realize they went for that much, were they PL mounts? I thought the market value of the OCT-19 mounts was 3000-3500?

What are squarefronts going for these days?

Honestly, I thought they'd go for more! OCT-19 mounted RF's aren't that different to PL mounts - as it's a simple upgrade in mount (no need to take apart), unlike the Squarefronts (which need a trip back to their Motherland to convert to PL as it's a tricky job :)

Squarefronts are a bit of an oddity - I've seen 35mm's go for $1700 (in OCT-19) and $1900 (in PL)... and then, via the 'madness' of EBay, really poor OCT-18 35mm's (two piece - yukky ones!) go higher ($2K plus)!

The clincher now is the condition... if they're spotless (no coating damage etc) and the focus/iris are smooth, that will drive up the price. The hassle of converting OCT-19 to PL is also something that actually keeps down the price of the Squares (and is probably the reason the Rounds increase more).

I'd figure a good set of Squares in OCT-19 (25/50/80) would be average $4.5 probably add $400 per lens for PL so maybe $6K ($2K each average).

But, as RED always say (LOL) all is subject to change... and market conditions... and the 'needs' of a buyer :)

I'm surprised that no one else has stepped up to make anamorphic glass anymore. I heard arri or zeiss were getting back in, but they will be for hawk prices. Maybe Jim jannard is crazy enough to do it!I was toying with selling my 35mm squarefront, maybe I'll hold out...if anyone wants to pay a crazy price for it pm me!

Crazy offer for the 35mm - how about $300?

LOL.

Seriously, i'd keep hold of it if you can... it'll only go up in price.

I also think the DSLR boom on cine anamorphics (Lomos) is fading off... the front adapter guys prefer that route (with a modern lens) IMO (just looking at trends)... and cine glass is now migrating in the direction of RED (again - as it did a few years ago when the RED first hit).

For the poor original OP (who we've threadjacked - sorry!!!), the Isco will be better (or an OCT18 Lomo squarefront adapater - not the lens) as this will pair with faster lenses. The older primes aren't faster that T2.8 (that's not F2.8 - it's slower), but a Square paired with a modern fast lens can give you the look, especially if you're a single shooter.
