Logging and Transferring MXF files without P2 card

I have MXF files that I dragged to my hard drive from a P2 card as a test for future offloading situations. How do I log and transfer these contents in FCP? I've only log/transferred directly from the P2 card, and when I open up it up now, the list is empty.

Also, If I offload files onto a PC laptop, then take those files home to my Mac Pro, would I have any problem with logging and transferring, since the files started on a PC?

Not sure about the PC/Mac Pro situation, but for the other question…

Basically, you launch FCP and open the "Log & Transfer" window. In the upper left corner, you'll see a folder with a "+" on it. Select that and use the dialog box to choose the "CONTENTS" folder you dragged-and-dropped with your P2 footage in it. FCP should read the folder and load the clips.

You would need to have dragged all folders and their contents from the P2 card into a discrete folder for it to work. Not just the MXF files... Also with Mac/PC there would be the possible issue of incompatible disk formats. You want to use NTFS on the PC side so the Mac can read the larger than 2GB files if needed.
