Log and Transfer in FCP 6

Hey all. New to the forum...have a quick quesiton...

I shot something in 720 24p today and it consisted of a bunch of short broll clips and one long shot. All clips were 2 minutes or less save the one long clip at about 20 min. Everything transcoded fine except I can't get FCP to transfer the 12 minute clip. It looks as though the whole clip will be fine then gives me a little stop sign with an '!' in it in the log and transfer window.

I'm fairly new to the camera and this is the first time I've had a shot this long since owning it. Anybody else have this issue and come up with a fix?

I'm on a Macbook pro 2.5 ghz intel core 2 duo with 2 GB RAM

Thanks!

what exact version of fcp is it? 6.0.5 or newer should be the version to use when transcoding footage from the hmc150.

If he had a version earlier than 6.0.5 it wouldn't even transcode the short clips...

Are there 2 long clips? (a 20 min and a 12 min?) or the 20 just transfers only 12 min?

I had a clip yesterday that was 22 minutes long and wouldn't transcode past the 13 minutes... It was a 3 camera shoot, and the other two clips from the other HMC150's transcoded fine. I had to transcode the clip with TOAST 10... there was a little hiccup where the video would slowdown and then catch up!
(that job was shoot in HA 1080 60i at 17mbs)

Try using toast 9 or 10 to transcode your footage... or check that you have the latest updates for FCP it should be 6.0.6

i've got the latest version of fcp 6. it looks like the whole clip logs (little processing bar fills up all the way) then just gives me the stop sign when it's done. there's no partial clip in my capture scratch. i'll look through toast and see if that will work...

Figured I'd complete this thread by posting my fix. It was really basic. I just set in and out points on the clip (just like on log and capture) and transfered it in three sections. Worked fine!

Did you try Toast?
Are you transcoding to an external hard drive, or internal?
How's the hard drive formated? Mac OS extended? Fat32?
