Locking text

I have kind of a weird question that i don't think has been brought up.

If I wanted to have text be locked in a position.. as say my dvx pans so it looks like the text is staying stationary in a spot as the camera moves away from it.... would I have to make the text move in the opposite direction at the same speed as the pan..would that be the only way to do it ?

The footage i have is kinda shaky and its of a person walking and i don't want the text to follow the shakiness i want it to look like its locked in the air and just moves away as the camera first comes across it then as the camera keeps following the person waling the text leaves as if the camera is just walking by the text.

Sounds like you need some motion tracking. I'm familiar how to do this in after effects, but not FCP. I'd like to see a FC solution too.

Can't be done in FCP without buying plugins other than frame by frame keyframing. However Motion has this built-in. Here's a tutorial that's sort of along those lines:

you can do it with the motion-tracking tools in motion. easily.
