GH2 Locking mic connector (mini jack) for GH2/3

Looking to lock the mini jack connector into the camera - I have seen HDMI locks with cages, what about for the mic jack. No idea why they can't put on at least a threaded mini jack connector or mini XLR on these cameras. I am aware of all other setups but am in need of this for my current micro budget workflow :)

This is what I used to use with the GH2s:

No "lock" device but the right angle form does two things:

1. Provides very good "strain relief" by changing the direction of any "pull" from the weight of the mic cable with any extensions used.

2. By changing the direction of "strain" it vastly reduces the possibility of the mini-jack coming out.

I never had a problem with it. I recommend a similar right angle form for any connector you have to use, even for headphones. Adapters are easy to find at Radio Shack and significantly reduce the chances of damage to the camera connector/jack that can occur with the cable jack sticking straight out.

I agree with Bruce, I have been using a right angle adapter since I got my GH2 a few years ago and have never had it come out. On the other hand when I used a "straight" adapter I did have a few cases where I snagged the cable and pulled it out, go with the right angle.

THanks for the reply guys.

Firstly I am getting the audio from a field mixer not a external mic on the hot shoe. I have this exact connecter (hosa) and a stereo to mono adaptor / connector on the end of this too and it comes out all the time when I'm running and gunning. Perhaps I got a bum one, I now have a straight connector that is now velcrowed to a bar attached to the hot shoe on the top of the camera and this works great, made my own cable. The 2.5mm cable goes in a lot tighter and I measured it too, 2.45mm same as hosa but it looks a little different, one of the spacers between the contacts is wider?

Hosa is typically a good product, I got a half-dozen 3.5 to 2.5 right angle from ebay and these have worked well. I often run my mic's through a tascam with a feed to the camera and sometimes from a mic 15--30 feet from the camera. I carry a few velcro 1/2" straps and have used these on occasion to create a strain relief by tying off the mic cable just below the camera leaving a little slack between the velcro and the camera input.
