About 95% of Herzog's/Zach Penn's whacky and fun mockumentary, "Incident at Loch Ness" (2004) was acquired using the DVX100. While you pretty much need to be a Herzog fan or afficiando to really enjoy the movie, the imagery will speak loud & clear to DVX users...Take the plunge anad see it!

Re: LochNess Mystery solved!

I haven't seen this yet but investigated the official site.

Herzog is one of the greatest living filmmakers.

Re: LochNess Mystery solved!

The official site - lemme know more! Agreed about Herzog, from his early work and including the wonderful remake of Nosferatu, Phanthom of the Night!

Re: LochNess Mystery solved!

Although it screamed DVX, I was in denail until Found the supporting documentation. Then, all was well.

Re: LochNess Mystery solved!

This is not a film directed by Herzog but ...

John Bailey, DoP

When I was [not] a film student, Herzog did a short residence at my school. I didn't know who he was ... didn't take him seriously at first but he earned my respect ... now worship.

The best thing about Harmony Korine's "Julien Donkey-Boy" was Herzog's performance.

Has anybody seen Les Blank's documentary "Burden Of Dreams" about the making of "Fitzcarraldo?" "My Best Friend?" I could go on and on about Herzog. Amazing. One of the best ever. Talk about independent ...

Re: LochNess Mystery solved?

So has anyone seen Nessie (the movie!)? My understanding is the DVX footage was brought into Avid Media Composer, standard pulldown, after editing a TIFF image sequence was output and sent to Laser Pacific for uprezzing. The beautiful imagery is in no small due to John bailey's cinematography, of course, hoenstly, it looks like high-def! In fact it doesn't really have that give-away 'video swish' look that is noticeable with video-to-film, really beautiful stuff.

Re: LochNess Mystery solved!

Went to see the movie today at the Egyptian theater in Hollywood... it was an exceptionally funny movie, i highly recommend it just for that, but since you're all DVX fans as well -- John Bailey did a damn fine job, and it blew up nicely on the big screen... you can also see shot by shot comparisons between it and the 16mm footage that was shot for the documentary-within-the-mockumentary... very revealing...

the screening was especially cool because there was a Q&A afterwards with Zak Penn (the director), Gabriel Beristain (the Cinematographer within the film), and Howard Smith (the editor)... Werner was supposed to be there, but he was stuck in traffic driving down from San Francisco...
