The script is getting a rewrite but it is going to be a horror movie. This location would make a great civil war location. This cabin was built a few years ago at the visitor center at Truman Dam. They are currently building another one right next to it. The functional smokehouse is visible in the second grab. We are rewriting the script to fit this location and one other that we have scouted.
I don't have it secured yet but I am not expecting to pay. I know the guy that built the cabin. He comes down and stays in it during a local fair every year. I could shoot right now and not have a problem because its open and no ones around till after Memorial weekend.
Good luck with the short and shooting with your kids.
BTW, how old are your kids. I have shot a short with my daughter in the lead and while I like the way it came out, working with my 6 year old daughter on a shoot was a challenge.
I actually have experimented with cranked up saturation and it looks really good. I can throw a couple of em on here or feel free to show me your CC prowess.
As for the kids(misnomer?) I have em from 14 to 30 five in all both genders three girls two boys. My youngest daughter wants to be an actress an is a big reason why I bought a dvx. Its great practice for all aspects of movie making. I have always had camcorders since the early vhs days when you had to keep them connected to a vcr. I have an old super 8 camera I bought to play on and though I've never made a "short" or "music video" I have lots of old band practices on vhs as well as a performance at songwriters night at the world famous "Blue Bird Cafe". Whoops sounds like tootin my own horn, I just mean that I have played around with camcorders a bunch. I'm still a hack at it though, this DVX can help blind dogs find bones. I love disjecta's stuff and I'd like to see his setup and pick his brain. I shoot a lot of outdoors stuff myself and that 1.6 Century Optics lens may be something I have to have. I got long winded sorry and thanks for the gracious comments.
