Local skateboard factory

Hello everybody.

Sedendu Film has just completed this short promotional film about a small local skateboard factory right next to our office.

It was shot using an AF101 with Nikon lenses:
35mm 1.8
18-70 3.5-4.5
105mm 2.5

I shot it, graded it and partly made the music. Tell me what you think!

Nice job. would have like to have seen a little more construction detail. As an example, we saw the first clamp go on, but none of the others, IMHO, we should have seen them all go on, could have been a time lapse(speed up). That way we would have a better appreciation for how that curve was put into the wood and the story would feel a little more complete. Still good work and I liked the music.

Best,

Jan

Nice work - I also wanted to see more of the mfg. process! Curious about how it all works, which is sometimes exactly what you want from a project like a teaser or trailer! Nice footage too - what was your grade like on this? Seemed kind of bypassy in color.

Thank you guys!

We tried balancing between skateboard-building-tutorial and portrait. Maybe we should've gone more to one of the sides.

I graded the shots myself and I gave the shadows a blue tint and pushed the mid levels real high and pushed down the highlights. That way I got a milky, soft looking image, but still warm and vibrant.

Cool little job. Well done.

Wondered who the music was supposed to appeal to though. (eg. skaters?)

BTW: (grandpa speaking) Those young guys really need to wear masks when dealing with dust, resins and epoxys!

Thanks, Shooter!

The song was made to reflect a feel good summer, so hopefully it can appeal to all kinds of people, but skaters would be a target group, yes.

And they usually do wear masks, but along came the director and photographer telling them not to...

Very cool

Very cool

I really like the vibe here. Good work. Do you recall your scene file settings? What did you grade with? The look is very cool.
