local dvx100 user group

The next best thing to this phenomenal online community would be to have a local physical version of the same.

The mere thought of being in the same room as some of the greatest minds behind the dvx100/a and having a chance to see and hear how they use this camera gives me goose bumps.

Could this be a reality ... or should I keep dreaming on? I'm in the
Washington DC area and would love to hear from our learned online friends about the possibility of this local chapter.

First round of food/snacks is on me!

Re: local dvx100 user group

In the dvx100 world, I am green and was born yesterday.

Any thoughts from the Great Masters on how to build such a monumental project? Where to seek ... what to provide ... how to make it worthwhile?

Re: local dvx100 user group

I'm in Fairfax county. I know of I think 3 or 4 others on the board that are somewhere in the DC metro area. Maybe we could get something going. I'd personally like to have Barry S give me a DVX head cleaning lesson :)

Re: local dvx100 user group

Fantastic, Andrew! I'm in Montgomery County.

If you'll let me know when the others in our DC metro area would be available to meet (day and time), I'll go ahead and arrange a place to meet. Is Barry S, one of our dvx superstars, local talent?! This could be a lot more adventure than I imagined.

Re: local dvx100 user group

Kai, I'm moving to Springfield, MO in about a month. Just been trying to buy a farm. Just run into crazy people who pull it off the market after you make an offer. So I'd be interested in a group. Just have to stay at one of my cousin in either Claremore or Tulsa for the night unless it was an afternoon meeting.

Gee it'd be like going to LA again. Except for the three hours of driving time I'd be moving instead of sitting in a parking lot and moving an inch every five minutes.

Re: local dvx100 user group

Kai,

Thanks for the meetup link. Any plans to visit our soon-to-be-born group here in metro DC?

Re: local dvx100 user group

Time and place..... :)

We are getting near the end of the month, and I still haven't made a contest piece yet. How about a 12 hour production. We can even use my powerbook, erm "Mobile Editing Suite" to crank it out on the spot.

Re: local dvx100 user group

Gosh! A 12 hour contest production? I'm getting the butterflies already!!

I may be way off on this ... but I was thinking the first group meeting could be a nice platform for technical and/or creative discussion regarding the camera and then jumping forward. How do our other potential members feel about this? I'll be on a warp learning mode either way!! :)
