Local commercial with HVX

Hi,
Thanks man!
We used the standard CineD preset. (we really didn't tweak any settings..)
The SGPro has never failed us and I cannot recommend it enough to people! I love the imagery it produces!

Thanks again everybody.

The full resolution actually looked pretty good on a HD screen. To be honest, I was surprised how good the HVX looked on a 1080P screen. and The SgPro did not appear to soften the footage. (at least not noticeably).
The commercial is supposed to air in March or April in the north east region of Ohio and PA

Wow, calling this "low budget" is selling yourself short! (I know, I know, you said you only had a crew of 2)

I really liked your talent & food shots. The girls look great, the drinks look great. Uhh.....great job! Can I ask what you were using for lighting?

Hi,

:dankk2:
The lighting was a cobination of Lowel and Arri Fresnel lights.
For the food and drink shots. 1K sofbox was used as the main light. A 300w softbox as a filler and 250w Fresnel as a back light.
For the talent (the girls scene) We used outside light from the big windows as our main light. (we had to gel all the windows with CTO) And used a combination of softboxes and Fresnel lights to highlight certain area in the background and on the talent.
Finally for the group shot, we used two 1K lights diffused with a silk as the main key light and we strategically placed small fresnel lights to highlight some hair and other stuff that never made it in the final edit ;-)
Our overall light kit consisted of 3 open face 1K lights (mainly used in softboxes and chineses lantern). Four 250W fresnel. one 300W fresnel and one 650 fresnel.

Looks good. It doesn't look like any local commercial I have ever seen!
What lenses did you use?

definitely a great job on this. the food in local spots usually looks like arse.

i live in austin, so i LIVE on mexican food (the real real stuff where the waiters don't speak english) and you made the food look better than what i get!

the mexican accent was a little over the top, but again, practically living in mexico i'm used to a certain 'type' of accent. i'm sure the choice of a talking jalapeno wasn't yours either, but the animation looked great.

Thanks again for all your comments

Sarah, we used 50mm and 85mm Nikon lenses.

The animation was done in Softimage Xsi by my colleague. Yes it's overkill but that's the software he uses for any kind of animation and knows it real well.

Cliff, that's exactly how this little restaurant is...lol.. The waiters are all from Mexico and barely spoke English...it was sometimes funny trying to explain or ask for certain things (language barriere) and yes I agree, the voice is a little over the top :D

Did you get any BTS shots? I would be interested in seeing the set.

The opening shot of the guy didn't seem to match the quality of the rest of your incredible work. But other than that, I was really impressed and your client got the deal of a lifetime.

-Brad

Brad you are correct about the opening shot!
The opening shot was a last minute change in the script and was shot with no planning or anything. It was shot at 4:30PM in a hurry.(it was starting to get dark...especially with a lens adapter) . As far as BTS pictures we have very little of them because there was only two of us on the set trying to do everything (light, dolly rig, film, focus etc..) we had to rely on some of the actors to take some pics....and well..let's just say most of them are unusable ;-)
