loading scene files on the AF102 and poor service from panasonic

I tried loading the scene files from Barry's book but kept getting a card error. I solved the problem by formatting a card, creating and saving a scene file to the card and coping the header on to Barry's files.

The thing that pissed me off is Panasonic Service - I called the company in regard to the problem only to be told that professional camera support was handled by a contract company? The number I called was an answering service - if it was April 1 I'd understand. If you sell professional cameras surely you should support them - I'm assuming this isn't the case in other countries.

I also called them in regard to extended warranty for the camera I bought in March - I tried to register online at the time but it wouldn't work so I called today to sort it out. "your interest has been registered and when extended warranty becomes available you'll be contacted" - WHEN?

surely this isn't the 1st time they've set up extended warranty.

If this was an Australian company I'd understand:happy: but it's a bloody huge multinational.

[end rant]

I gave up on registering my camera for a 3 year warranty when I hit a catch-22 trying to register on the contract company's website. (Mine is UK, AF101). Given that the camera and manual were plastered with stickers exhorting me to register, you'd have thought they'd have tried the process themselves and discovered that it was more or less impossible. I can't recall exactly but I think I had to phone up to get a special number from my dealer in order to register online. WHAT?? What the hell is wrong with the camera's serial number??

Hywel.

I had no problems registering mine. Took about two seconds. It was actually much less effort that I figured it would be (and I hate having to register stuff)... remembering the login I made for the few times I have had to log onto their site is the hardest part of the process... Usually panny's service is top notch amongst the big guys from what I have heard (never had a problem with any of my cams yet, knock on wood). I think of a member who had a problem and had a new camera in less than two days after reporting his problem, and that was durring the hecticness of NAB with most of their engineers out at the convention... They may be a big established company, but even big companies have little hiccups in their systems now and again and things get lost in the masses. When did you contact them? Did you contact them again after a couple days?

Hi Tired,

Sorry you got the run around with support. We do have a number of service agents who handle repairs but support is usually handled by your local dealer or us direct. If your're still having problems we'll happily help. Registering for the warranty is normally fairly straight forward. Again we're here to help. I'd like to know who didn't respond to you. Please feel free to call if you wish, 0414 249 377.
