Hey, I mentioned the lens not sending the correct information to body. Don't I get some kind of forum cred for that?

this explains the issue, but doesn't completely fix it I'm afraid
if the manual lens is chipped, then I think ML can solve the issue, but I'm not sure (my lenses are not chipped, and I haven't used a Canon for video in over a year, apart from a couple of comparison tests)
