Live Streaming using EX1 and a mac without Firewire, can it be done?

I know I can use my EX1 as Web cam v ia firewire, for I have done it. Great quality. But my laptop Mac Air lacks a firewire and I cannot find a single adapter or device that can go fro USB-2 to Firewire. My Mac also has Mini Display Port, but I don't know how to connect it to a firewire port on muy camera to capture the video for live streaming. Any ideas or should get a different laptop and move on with my life? I am thinking to get a tablet, but is there a tablet with a Firewire port?
 
There aren't any FW to USB adapters.
You can't connect mini display port to FW.
You can't connect mini display port to anything, but (surprisingly!) display.
If you sentenced to use EX1 as Webcam, get yourself at least MacBook Pro :)
