Live Feed for Web Streaming?

Hello,

I've been asked if I can supply a live feed for streaming video (via web) from my HPX170. I'm recording a conference to my P2 cards, but can I also send out a digital signal that my client can then take and upload to a streaming server?

If so what would I send them (while simultaneously recording to my P2 cards), from what connection point (Firewire or SDI), format, etc... I'll most likely shoot in SD DV. Maybe DVCPRO50.

Not that this is our concern but what would they be doing with my signal? Running into a PC, ingesting, exporting and then uploaded to their server? How does it work?

Thanks!

I just recently did this very thing, using one HPX170 and one HVX200a. My client could only accept DV via composite or S-Video Jack. Since we rented a switcher to him to cut between the two cameras, we fed composite from the 170 (which does not have an s-video out) and also from the 200a (which does have s-video out, but we were splitting both feeds to preview monitors so we used composite).

The feeds were live but also being recorded to P2 simultaneously. They will most likely take your signal, feed it to an encoder/streaming box of some sort and stream it live online, or perhaps send it direct to their servers which will then stream it live. There are a few ways to do this, but they will most likely want the best signal with the least amount of motion (zooming, panning, etc.) so their systems can perform optimum encoding.

Depending on what type of system they're using, and what type of connections they can handle, you can feed them your live cam via firewire, HD-SDI, or any of your available analog outputs.
