Live Concert Production

Hey all, I'm doing a little research into estimating the costs of renting or buying equipment worthy of live video production.

Our church is large (1000+) and our youth group sometimes draws 350 kids on a midweek service. We are a modern charismatic church, and the worship reflects that. It is high energy with multiple electric guitars, and lots of dancing and bouncing around.

We are looking into possibly producing a video of a worship service, and also sending live feed of the signals to the tech booth to display realtime on the screens. We are wondering what the costs will roughly be. Can you take any video camera and attach some type of transmitter to it, and send a realtime signal to the the screens? Which video cameras could be recommended for making a concert dvd/live broadcast feed? What equipment is needed to accomplish this?

Thanks, and sorry for the massive amount of questions and lack of knowledge.

Couldn't tell you price but i can give you an idea as to what kind of equipment youd need.

You're of course going to need the screen to project your feed onto.
You need a projector of course to project the feed onto the screen.
Connected to the projector you'll have a vision switcher. How that's connected all depends on what sort of vision switcher you get, could be through RCA, could be through VGA etc.
Then you just run your cameras into the switcher. You're going to need a bunch of monitors, depending on how many cameras you've got, plus a preview monitor or two.
The cameras can really be any kind of camera, depending again on your vision switcher - if you get a vision switcher with RCA inputs then you can use any camera, if you get a more pro one with BNC inputs, then you're gonna need a camera with BNC out or at least some sort of converter (not sure if you can get converters anyway).

To then put it to a dvd, you can either have an out on the switcher going straight into a copmuter or a camera or tape deck etc. or you get your camera operators to hit record before the service starts and not hit it again till it ends and then you can edit it on your computer whatever way you want.
Or you can do both

BNC and RCA are both just conector types, they are both used to carry the exact same Composite Video signal. All you need is a little adapter to connect them together.

Of course both RCA and BNC connectors are used for various other types of signals too .. the connector aloen doesn't tell you much.

Try searching for "mutlicamera" and you will find some good discussions on this topic.
