Live Concert - low light

I just shoot my first live concert - unfortunately with only 1 HVX200E. I've based my cam setting on all the tips & hint I gathered in our forum - especially on eliminating noise. Audio: from mixer to HVX. The musicians as well as the representative of the record label liked the footage very much. But you guys are much more demanding ;-)

Here a very short extract of the live concert footage (20MB):

I would really appreciate your comments. There is always room for improvement.

How long was the proformance, how many P2 cards did you have or did you use a firestore?

The performance was around 1.5 hours including a short break. Together with the musicians we've selected 5 songs to be recorded. I used the rest of the show to shoot some inserts. I only had 2 4GB P2 cards but thanks to my groovy digital media assistant it works without any problems. I couldn't use my laptop for direct recording because EDIUS Broadcast still doesn't support this with 720/25p.

If anybody is interested to watch the full song here it is:

But be aware - it's 320MB.

I agree, I dont know what she said at the begining, but the blacks looked good.

It's funny but she said - we need a little more light. As singers like to see the audience they dimmed the lights for the songs that we didn't use for our shooting. Unfortunately the responsible for the lighting was not quite attentive.

Phantastic blacks! - People could use this video for testing the performance of blacks on LCD- or Plasma-screens....

I'd call it exaggerated, but what it makes, is that it isolates the singer (like greenscreen) and like some would do with shallow DOF, you permit the spectator to concentrate 100% on the singer (or band / instruments).

And the blue spot on the left (that appears every now and then) is like the MOON that goes along with the lullaby ....

So, the deep black has become a stylistic device! - Thanks JJB for the video and thanks HVX for the settings that allow us such blacks (master ped etc.).

Basic Mac question
Is it possible to download and watch it on a Mac? The singer tried it but didn't succeed - no way to download it. Any tips & hints?

You can also just download the Mac WMV player. Sometimes it's a bit funky but it played your file very well. It chokes on some bit bit rate ones... I'd say though that the quicktime player is much better and more universally accepted now... Thanks God...

Clips look nice... and yep, your audio is killer!
