Live Broadcasting in local TV companies

Hi there,

Is anybody know what kind of software system is in use in local TV studios for their live broadcasting business?
I've heard about a Scala InfoChannel, but I am not sure if it uses for TV broadcast or just for supermarkets.
I am interesting, b/c we have some plan to open small TV studio in our local comunity.

Thanks in advance!

oh there is a LOT to learn!

"TV" does not run on software.. the closest would be that some really small TV stations use a video toaster for some work..

Do you have a Broadcast Engineer on your team? You will need one.

I know about all hardware for TV studio and air, I am not about that..., currently I am asking about some software(system) which must play 24/7/365, has great PlayListSystem, which should be edited in real time from several places, compatable with an OracleSQL and UnixShellScripts, as well as with Deployment Procedure in generally, etc.
Some Title feature, which needs also be flexible to play in any time, in any place of any video any sort of graphics, including 2d/3d, and plain text, etc.
I know about an AirBox application and ScalaIC, but I am wondering about what local TV has used at this time...

Thanks.

What you are describing is a big mix of dedicated harware and software. look up "station automation" on google..

I have used Airbox.. I like it. - ours (analog output only) was €10,000 thats for one chanenl for playout and a terabyte of server space [not much] - video playout only, No CGs.

Thank you Mikko Wilson,

I have played a little with the AirBox - yes it's good stuff.
Did you have ever any kind of fault with it?

We only used it as a simple dedicated playout server.. and it worked very very well in that application. I dont' knwo whow well it works when interfaced with other systems for database controlled automation, but for playout i'd definatly recomend it.
