I had a huge 16 hour long music video shoot yesterday (pickups from the last one) and had my portable 4G satellite truck replacing backback with me and broadcasted much of the shoot live from my website.
It was a real hoot as the actors not in the scene could watch the shooting as they were waiting, and then people would be texting my site link to their friends, going up to the camera and waving at their friends live, and then the friends were talking back in the chat window. All of it was rather amazing although I did have some technical glitches trying to broadcast in 720p live because we were deep in a thick building location. Mostly though it worked very well! Next time for live events not in perfect studio conditions I will bump the qulity down to iphone ipad compatible. Not hd but still very clear and smooth framerate without the insane upload bandwidth.
There were all sorts of cameras on set, my three GH13s although I mostly shot with 2 at a time, and then a GH2, Canon 7D, t2i, and the Canon 60D.
You can check out out and actually watch different setups and scenes on demand at http://blackout.com or http://livestream.com/blackoutsbox
When I would change setups and playback the footage, the canon people were asking me "WHAT THE HELL!?!?!? WHAT CAMERA IS THAT!?!?!?"
I am now going to collapse for a day and then it's off to Sundance! I'll be doing some live broadcasts their as well as making a little mini documentary so keep an eye out!
