Live band shoot with dancer

Here is a simple video I put together for a friend's band.

A mix of HVX202, Canon 550D and AF102.

Also shot another song from this gig and will be editing that up soon... should have more shot variety in that video!

Let me know if you have any comments or questions... or tips to make it better.

Hi Zeakio,

It's pretty good. The only thing I noticed is that all the side-on shots of the band have the lead singer in focus. It would have been nice to have some variety, such as the girl in focus, and maybe the guitar player at the end.

Thanks evan for the comment! It would have been nice to have a second operator to do that :) But I was a one man crew that night. The setup was two cameras on sticks and then myself with the AF on a shoulder mount to get different shots of the dancer.
Ultimately this video was a bonus for the band because of the dancer aspect (I'm still doing a video for another song from that gig)... but you are right, it would have been better to have more shot variety. Did just having the lead singer in focus and having the girl and guitarist out of focus make sense? Would you have preferred a larger DOF so you could see them all in focus?

Thanks again for the comment. It's helpful to get feedback on videos!

The second video is very much better edited, with more variety of shots. My biggest critique is the "Damaged Film" effects. I personally do not like them, but to each his own. In the first video, the color mismatch between the shots of the band, especially from the side, and the shots of the dancer was kind of distracting. You may want to warm up the dancer or cool down the band shots. BTW, how did you do the audio? Good job.

Audio was just their track from the CD. I realise some people don't like the film damage stuff, but that's my style and I feel it covers up a lot editing or continuity problems. Thanks for the feedback!
