Little shake on tripod at max zoom(when pressing rec button)

Hello Friends,

I got the Benro tripod today(A-157m8) and Benro head(HD-18, it's a non fluid head but I can live with it till I can afford a fluid head).

What I see is that when I'm zoomed max with subject pretty close to camera and press record button, there is little shake(though the focus pulling is OK and the tripod remains stable). Since this is first time I'm getting into video related stuff so I'm not sure if this should happen with other tripods too, so can you please let me know if this is a problem that happens with other tripods too?

Though it's not much of a big deal as I can always press the record button little before the real action starts, just curious to know how sturdy other tripods are and do they shake a bit when you press the record button at max zoom with subject close to camera.

For rest I can say that this tripod seems pretty stable and has good build quality but only time will tell how it works in the long run...

Thanks.

Yeah, especially given the placement of the rear record button on the GH1. Try using the shutter button instead if you aren't already.

For photos that are a longer exposure on a tripod I start with the 2 second timer since I don't have a remote shutter controller.

Yes, I've already tried the shutter button but with same result.

I will turn the OIS off and see what happens. Though for handheld work OIS works great and I've always left it on till now as I was shooting without a tripod.

Thanks.

To me this sounds like you are trying to edit in camera? If not then why worry about that? Just cut out the shake in post. These are video cameras and there is no worry about saving $$ for record time like film.

No I'm not worried about the shake as I know can cut it during editing.

I was just wondering if other tripods also show this behavior as this is my first time with video and tripod so just wanted to know if this kind of thing happens on other more expensive tripods...
