A friend of mine asked me a couple of weeks ago if i could help him shoot a 60 second spot for a local 60 second film fest. He came to me with the idea, we shot it yesterday and i wanted to share it with you guys.

It's completely improvised. We must have shot it around 6-7 time and chose the one that fit the 60 second time limit. Dan, my buddy, is the guy on the left and I'm on the right. This guy is an improv champion. He works with an improv group that does shows around Montreal, and me... well.. I don't, but i try none the less!

Shot on Canon XH A1 with Panavision preset with some curve and saturation adjustment in post. All my lights are still at my friends house for the feature i've been working on for the passed year so all we had to us were 2 of my 150 hmi's from Coollights, some diffusion and a large window with natural daylight.

Considering, from start to finish ( putting up the first light stand to burning the DVD ) it took us all of 3.5 hours, i am satisfied with what we were able to achieve.

I hope, if for nothing else, it brings at least the slightest smile to your faces.

Was feeling inspired so i put together a poster, something which i have never done before so it was a lot of fun trying to muster something out.

*** I notice that on movie posters, much of the time the characters in the image look more cartoon than they would regularly appear in the film. Something about the texture, skin, makes it look more like a painting than a photo. Does anyone know the correct way to go about it?

here are the originals slightly downscaled from the poster:

The acting was real good .
the poster is bad though.... There should be some photoshop secrets tutorials on the net . I believe those are heavily airbrushed , and in some cases it almost drawn over again. You could always go for a cheap posterize filter and blur it abit.
I felt that you could have given the end shot a few more frames to settle the slap and some.

lol i agree everts.

For the purposes of the length, it had to be 60 seconds on the dot, so that was difficult. Sure we could haev sped it up a bit more but it would have felt strange. But i agree, it does end abruptly.

No airbrushing was applied to our faces for the poster or the stills, just soft lighting. The effect was a simple posterizing filter in Photoshop. But i would love to learn the best way of doing the poster look.

Thanks for checking it out and taking the time to comment!
