SHORT: Little Acorns – short film

Thanks for checking it out. I'm not sure what happened to some of those later shots, but I know what you mean.

I shot this 9 years ago in SD if you can believe it. I dug it out to "remaster" it so to speak and I think its holds up quite well even today.

Black squirrels!! I didn't know those existed...
But great little video! Definitely has that old feel to it.
Like stated before, that V/O feels perfect. Have any idea what you were using for it?

In terms of camera, it was the Canon XL2 with P+S Technik mini35 adapter & Nikon lenses. I don't know specifically what gave it an old feel to be honest, the colors are a bit muted and dark, the working ASA of this contraption setup was around 60-100ISO from what I remember so a lot of it is underexposed which maybe resulted in the colors and tone. Some of it was grading when I didn't really know how to grade.

:cheesy:

I was also pleasantly surprised by how this looked. It looked a lot more like 16mm than what people shoot today on DSLR when going for the same 16mm look. I think one of the factors was the way it was lit-- single-source tungsten fresnels by the look of it. That can give it a pleasantly cheap, b-movie feel. These days soft daylight bulbs are all the rage so seeing a different lighting dates it.

Thanks for checking it out Drew, yes for interiors I mostly used single source lighting and not much fill. I think I used all Lowels which are open face. Maybe I shaped it a bit with barn doors, I really don't remember.

The ground glass off the P+S Technik made for some interesting looks too. I also used a technique in post to increase the perceived resolution. This really helps remove the softness from the SD resolution.

Ah the good old days.
