does anyone know of any mainstream pro film, music video etc (if any) that have been edited on vegas (color graded etc), it would be nice to know, thanks

I dont know about any movies. But im sure and its officially on the internet that several of shania twain's music videos were all cut on Vegas.

But feature films based on what workflow. I mean most of hollywood still shoots on film right ? And then it will have to be frame scanned on a laser film scanner and then brought into an NLE compatible format and then again printed back onto film or delivered as digital cinema right. But who with that kind of workflow infrastructure uses vegas ? mostly the NLE part in that formula is AVID which still seems to stand out as the leader in that arena.

I think this is for a buying decision of which NLE to go with. If your looking at what you can do with your NLE and into spending more time creating than learning the tools then go for Vegas , but if your looking at business prospects (which i suspect from your question) and clients to value your studio or NLE setup then go AVID.

Just my opinion however.

My thoughts are that if you want to work as an employee for some other company, yes, go with the other guys. If you're going to be doing work for yourself or for clients personally, I'd use Vegas. I also don't tell clients what I'm cutting with. I convince them that all that matters is the final product. How I get there is up to me.

With all the framerates and output formats, you shouldn't have any trouble with deliverables to a house that will print back to film.

El Director > But what do you mean not having a problem sending deliverables for print back. Tell me if your client asks if you can edit for film,, what format would you ask for the source footage in ? And what format would you send it back in to be printed back to film ?

Thanks

I don't ask for source footage. I don't edit anything that I haven't shot myself, with the exception of adding in corporate logos and such. And no, I personally haven't used a DI workflow, but if I did, or if I was even just going to go print to film, I'd ask the post house what they need from me.
