Liquid Now has New Home

I have been away for a while, working and stuff. I come back and everything has changed. This is exciting.

I have been using Pinnacle Liquid for two years now and I was hesitant when Avid purchased Pinnacle. However, after seeing what they intend to do with the Liquid line of software, I have to say I am very excited. Those who are unsure about Liquid will find it is an incredibly powerful program, yet very easy to use. The background rendering and DVD authoring from the timeline are just a few of the benifits many will find with Liquid.

I can say I am excited to be a part of the Avid Family and I hope to be any assistance that I can with who plan to use Liquid.

Can you speak to Liquid's 24p capabilities? There's virually no info on Avid's website regarding frame rates that Liquid supports.

Liquid has a 24p timeline, but it does not remove pulldown. You'd have to do that separately and then import into Liquid.

Clips shot on the DVX in 24P or 24P Adv. can be captured into Liquid Edition as regular 60i footage and then exported to an avi file. They can then be read into a third party software package and the pulldown removed. I have had good success with DVFilmMaker. The resulting mov files can then be imported back into Liquid in a 24fps timeline and edited. Now I am by no means an expert at this yet because I am still working out the details but so far, it has worked good and I heartily recommend DVFilmMaker. It is an awesome product.

Can it import OMF? Avid's website makes it look like it can import MXF so feasibly you could capture with Xpress Pro and then move the media to Liquid for a second edit station or an offline machine.

Just thinking out loud. :)
