lip syncing in AE

Any tips for this?

I'm trying to edit a music video and align a person singing to the mp3 song. However as you cant expand the audio layer (like you can in Premiere), aligning the lip syncing with the audio is more of a guess work...

I know you can hold Ctrl to preview the audio but is there any other ways that can speed up the editing? Constant rendering to hear the audio is a killer :(

Yeah, you can see the waveform through the layer properties drop down menu.

It's probably easier though to sync your sound in an editor first, then bring the clips into AE.

^+1. I agree. AE really lives up to it's name, AFTER Effects. I do all of my basic NLE cuts and audio correction in Final Cut then send that to AE for compositing, titling, etc.

Might need to resort to that..

Only reason why I haven't done it is, the footage im trying to edit is from a greenscreen, so I'd be afraid after I export it from Premiere and bring it back to AE the quality will drop and it be harder to do keying the greenscreen...

I'm an FCP user, little experience with Premiere, but can you not just export TO premiere and back again? I know you can with the FC Studio, and I figured you'd be able to back-and-forth with those programs without quality loss.
