linkedin ? worth joining ?

Don't know what everyone else thinks but for me it has just been another spam fest.
I'm sure it can be very handy somehow but I have only had birthday reminders, job seekers and old acquaintances tracking me down.

I've gotten several jobs from being on there (freelance video stuff). If you don't want the spam just opt out of it in your settings. Otherwise it's just a grownup/professional version of Facebook, but like anything, has its pros and cons

Best,
Adam

I always thought it was a spam/phishing site until some non media business friends told me they use it all the time. I am still not a member but I feel like part of the club because I get email from them all the time.

I am inclined to pass on linkedin then, at least for now. Almost ready to give up on Facebook too, or at least just log in maybe once a week if that; so much about nothing being posted there by "friends", time I could be spending writing and with story dev.

I'm on linkedin, but pretty much all the contacts I have there are people whom I met somewhere or other first, who then sent me the linkedin invites. It hasn't been useful for anything yet, but it hasn't been in any way harmful, either.

I live in Hollywood and many of the industry people I know are linkedin. Me, too, although I never use it for anything.
