Lines across screen in progressive mode. What ae they?

Hello,

I shot footage in 720 24pn mode. Then brought the MXF files in a 720 23.97 project in Avid. When I view the footage, during left or right pans, I can see what looks like interlacing lines across the screen. It makes no sense to me why this is happening when the footage is progressive and the computer monitor is progressive. Can anyone shed any light into this.
Thanks
Art

Can you show a clip or screen grab? How fast is the pan? Do you see it on the camera's LCD screen when you play it back from the p2 card? Could it be 24fps stutter from a fast pan?

Sounds like you mixed up the fields when importing to avid: some software needs odd field first, other even field first: connect a monitor or tv("old§-fashioned one if possible to your nle, and you will fiend the right setting!

Avid doesn't import MXFs that way . . . it takes the files as they are.

creconfilms, are you sure you shot 24pN?

I finally figured it out accidently. I got so irritated that I started shaking the quicktime window back and forth. The video wasn't playing but I saw the same straight lines across the screen, which look exactly like interlaced lines. Since the video wasn't playing, it can only be one thing. The video card. There is a lag for the card to display the image so it causes lines across teh image. I have the Nvidia FX500 on my Avid system. It works fine with SD material but I can see it having some difficulties with HD content. Thank you all who tried to help.
