Lightscribe

Hi Guys......Tried out my new Lightscribe CD/DVD burner tonight.
All I can say, it is absolutely useless!!!
I realise that it is only Grey Scale, so I chose a monotone image, and used Black Text. You can choose Draft, Normal, or Best Quality. I chose Best, and the Text is only readable if you get the light at the correct angle.

I would advise anyone who was going to buy the burner and discs to save their Money!!! I wasted £60 (about $100+)

Has anyone found the same?

Yea its pretty useless, we have a bunch of drives that have that at work (from HP XW8400 workstations) and they take longer to burn the image than it takes to burn the CD/DVD, Also it DOES work on regular media but is not recommended because you actually are burning the opposite side of the disc.

I prefer the printer sheets then just stick it on my discs.

I like mine, though I rarely use it. It is a unique look, granted it does take forever. One trick that someone taught me was to burn the image a few times. Makes it darker and easier to read. I know there is nothing they can do about this, but I don't like that it is not "hub printable". I usually just print directly to disk on my Epson using watershed disks, but I do like the look that Lightscripe creates.

The only way I've gotten really acceptable results with lightscribe is to burn on best quality about 3 times over. It keeps the registration so after you burn take a look... want it darker, pop it in again and burn again. Of course this way takes FOREVER, but you can eventually get a decent looking disk. I much prefer using printable disks and running through a printer that can print cds/dvds ... this way you get color and in your lifetime.
