Lighting Kit for basic interview for youtube series

I'm looking for recommendations for a budget lighting kit that I want to use on some Youtube videos. The videos will be of one person, waist up shots, in front of a greenscreen and also occasionally in a classroom setting. I understand that lighting the greenscreen is all about lighting it as evenly as possible and getting as much distance from the talent as possible to reduce spill but I'm having problems with what kind of kit should I get to light the talent. At first i figured basic 3 point lighting setup (key/fill/backlight) and try to make it as soft as possible, which led me to these rather cheap kits

but then I saw this video where the guys does an interesting setup with only a key and hairlight

here he uses 2 octacool lights for his key

I'm trying to keep my intial lighting kit around $500, can anyone recommend anything?
Are those cheaper amazon lighting kits not worth it?

Yes they are worth it if they do the job, you are not getting a lot of money to shoot the video, and that is all you can afford. Obviously getting better lights is more advantageous, but cheap lights can work. Cheap lights can be flimsy and also impact the color. It is best to get quality kit, that will perform well for many years. However, you can also make a lighting kit that could work. Also keep in mind that LED has advantages over tungsten, but cost even more for quality. Like most of us, we often started out with cheap equipment and moved up. Some people may be critical of cheap gear, but if it gets the job done, go for it. I have a friend that used cheap lighting gear on good paying jobs. But he was able to set it up so it created a nice atmosphere. There are other people with high quality lighting and they are unable to get top results. Cheap lights and even homemade light kits can work until you have a budget for better gear.
