Lighting equipment list -

barry, do you imply t hat you are making a book on controlling light? lol sick

That would be quite excellent.

Is there a thread on useful grip tools, other than c-stands and flags?

thats why he smiles at the end. Its like jim carey says. You can say anything and everything you want to someone, cruel and unusual, even in their face, as long as you smile at the end.

No, just jumpin' the gun. I normally don't say anything until I have a release date in mind, and we don't have a release date, so I shouldn't have said anything... :)

Say what?

I didn't hear anything... :D

But Barry, where is the best place to go to really really understand the technical aspects of this craft such as exposure, shutter speed, aperture, focal length, filtration, gain....

You're in the right place to learn. All of these subjects have been discussed in depth on the boards.

Right... and I have a decent handle on them already.

But, I would love to have a handy resource to use when teaching others and to study myself.

hey Richard.

so it turns out i may be ordering a 6x55 portable and a 4x55 portable. Both of these come with all the bulbs correct? I am somewhat confused about the mount though. Must one purchase the extra 29$ mount to get these things on stands? If not, what is the disadvantage?

Oh my god... Richard's in on this too?

I'll be checking back here religiously until I hear more news.

Not directly. Just think of me as Igor supporting Dr. Frankenstein so he has the proper tools to create all manner of horrors... ;-)

http://digitalcinematraining.com/ is supposed to be good. I can't confirm that though.

I'd like to get some confirmation from some dvxusers on this site.

Here are a few sites I've found useful:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Movie_Making_Manual
http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Filmmaking
http://www.freefilmschool.org/

Still, I'm looking for books and sites focusing specifically on lighting technique that you guys (and gals) have found especially helpful. There's a lot out there and it's a bit overwhelming for someone just starting out like myself. :) Tanx!

Yes all the flo models come with one set of bulbs in whichever color temp you choose. The lollipop can be adapted to a stand with a grip head adapter but the CL-MPSA lollipop to stand adapter is a bit better in that it keeps the center of gravity over the stand rather than in front of it like with a grip head. This means your stand might be a bit front heavy and require sand bags to stabilize if you use the grip head.

this is just a shot in the dark, but is there a dvxuser discount?

Also, im torn between these two combinations

its either
2 x 6x55watts
1 x 4x55watts

OR

2 x 4x55watts
1 x 6x55watts

My reasons are for practicality, travel, but i understand that with the 6x55, its easy to flip one switch off and get the equivalent as the 4x55.
the 4x55 will be easier to maintain and less cumbersome. But the extra power of the 6x55 would be nice when im competing against light from exteriors, to bring the windows back into the cameras lattitude.
help!
