Choosing camera for shooting TIMELAPSE

Can any one suggest a camera for doing time lapse?(I have done Time lapse shots with Cannon Digital Rebel. But for this shoot I am scared of using it because the location where I have to place the camera is not safe. (Also IF POSSIBLE I wanted to avoide system connected to camera.I can also keep clicking manually) I am planning to fix the camera at one place for 30 days and going to shoot in 1hr interval. I thought Digital still camera is the best option or the job.I need to get good quality video resolution only. If i can get HD resolution it is a bonus. My doubts are

01. Is there any <$100 camera with which I can do the job?
02. Is there a digital camera with internal setting for time lapse?
03. Any suggestions on how to deal with powersupply and image transfer without distubance?

Thanks guys!

I have the Rebel XT black and also Minolta Dimage 7HI

I use the minolta for timelapse:

For image transfer, if you don't need all the images until you are done just make sure you get a memory card big enough to hold all the photos.

24 pics per day x 30 days = 720

When it comes to the power, I would ask someone that lives near by about using their power and run an extension.....give them a couple of bucks.

...Would like to see it when done!!

I decided to go with CANNON POWERSHOT 540. I rigged the camera for external power supply as well as to controll the time interval. It worked fine with when I tested yesterday. Actual shot will hopefully start on 28may. I am trying to shoot a Film set getting constructed. I am planning to click every minut 1 picture.

Are you still going to shoot for 30 days?

1 pic per min = 60 in one hour x 24 = 1440 x 30 = 43,200 pics WOW!!!

you might be able to put that in a 1 or 2 gig card dropping the resolution down
where you can still have HD.

thats a cool project, I was thinking about aproaching a construction company about doing a timelapse on a new bank in town, but thought it would be too much of a hazzle for now.

How did you set the camera for timelapse, I was looking at that camera and it says it doesn't have timelapse recording....
