Lighter - the only light source - Canon 5d mkiii

Been doing low light to no light filming for my up coming Zombie film called Black Moon - rise of the Zombies aka Walkers. The main film is being shot in New Zealand and the ending credits are being filmed in the USA. Here is a very short clip from the USA shoot. This scene is where the female police officer is in an old building and her flashlight has just gone dead the room is in pitch darkness when she was just confronted with a Zombie and she is now trying to use a lighter for light to see where it has gone to. The only light we had was the light coming from the lighter. The camera did a great job working in the dark.

I wonder what it would look like if you crushed the blacks all the way and retained the subject being lit.

I know this is a bit over the top saying but..... hi F65... I'm Canon 5D ;P (those who read the BTS on Oblivion library scene / Morgan Freeman lighting a smoke scene will know what I mean)

All in good sport. The 5D holds up well now. If you're not a pixel /DR whore that clip looks fine, and a testament to what can be done as long as the story and set design carries us away from technology. Heck... even Hunger Games looked extemely blocky in the night scenes.

Thanks for sharing.
