I'm looking for a light for dvx100b so i can film in darker situations. I film skateboarding so i would mostly use it for filming lines. I haven't found any information on them so I don't know what I need. I want a light that attaches to the handle with the power thing on top.

how much are you willing to spend?
the led lights are the best but they are a little expensive.
most on camera lights already have the mount thing so you'll be fine attaching the light to your handle.
the only problem is the power. you can use same camera batterys for some light but they wont last long. I would recomend a battery belt.

I have a halogen quartz and am not too fond of the brand or the quality, but I have heard great reviews on the LitePanel camera lights. I think they are relatively expensive, I will check...

The only one that you shouldn't get is the original sony one with the two lights on top of each other. POS LIGHT, too focused in one area!
haha, I use to have those light. I used it with my Sony V1U and it was okay actually. it runs off the same sony battery so that was good. but only runs for like 30 min so that wasn't very usefull.

really?
I haven't really noticed too much on that...

well I always use a defuser so that might of been it.

I will look into those led lights and the belt. I'm going to buy at least two new batteries soon anyways. They only thing with the led lights i saw was how they are in a rectangular shape...will they be fine to film with up close with a fisheye or will it look like a big rectangle on camera?

there are other shapes for the led so you don't have to get the rectangle lights.
most lights have an adjust knob so you can adjust your lights so you should be fine with your close up shots. (not sure if that answered your question...)
