Life - Nature series from BBC and Discovery

Any of you guys watched "Life", the nature series on Discovery? Why... oh, why do they have to ruin it by having Oprah narrate this great and all around top notch nature program? Is Sir David Attenborough not good enough for us Americans? Is his British accent offensive or What! I felt like a five year old kid watching Oprah present a classroom video.... She may be the queen of "Talk show" but she should stick to that and let the King, Sir Attenborough, do his thing.

Am I the only one very disappointed? I was just about pulling my hairs out watching the first two episodes last Sunday...

I'm going to make it a point not to watch the rest of the series on Discovery and wait for the release of the Blu-ray version with Mr. Attenborough narrating.

Anyways... Sorry... just have to throw this off my chest.

Recently I watched Wild Russia, I suppose it is a joint project between Nat Geo and Discovery/Animal Planet, and there are two versions of it, which difffer not only in narration (the American version sounds like a thriller movie trailer) but also in order of shots, in music (the American is loder and more thriller-y) and also the American version interrupts every 10 minutes or so for advertising. Ew.

The Planet Earth BD release I bought in Costco is narrated by Attenborough.

I was looking forward to seeing it until you said Oprah narrates, Geez, was Dr. Phill to busy or something?

Nothing against Oprah and I'm sure she is an all around great lady and her die-hard fans of millions love her but... man! I can't believe Discovery and BBC is dumb enough to replace the BEST, Sir Attenborough, with Oprah who sounds like a mother reading a bed time story.

I was thoroughly disappointed with Sigourney Weaver narrating Planet Earth and yet, I am disappointed again with Oprah reading Life.

Anyways......... Maybe it's just me.

I'm sure it has a lot to do with her big new network deal with Discovery Communication but yea, I want to know what their producer was thinkng. I have nothing agaist Oprah but she's not a good fit for something like this unless they send it over to the Discovery Kids channel.

I thought I was the only one disappointed and complaining, but WHOOAAA...check out the amount of people on Amazon.com who has very little positive to say about Oprah's narration of Life, which should now be titled, "Lifeless!"

Can't believe Discovery is chicken enough not to turn down Oprah's request to narrate this amazing nature show.

I just flipped it on, I have watched about 30 seconds of it (some fish right now) and can't watch any more, actually I can watch it if I turn the sound off. Oprah sounds like she is speaking to 3 year olds. They better move it over to the Discovery Kids channel and have a new narrator for this series or it's going to be a major disaster.
