Libec is looking for your opinion on monopods 11/23-24 in LA

Our rep Jose from Libec is looking for some help from people here in LA for a focus group:

Per our discussion, we are looking for still photographers and DPs with experience inside events, news, interviews, sports, and/or weddings. Libec is building a focus group to meet for 30 minutes or so on 11/23 and 11/24. Tentatively the meeting will be held at the Libec office in Torrance, CA.

If selected for our focus group, in exchange for their time we will provide a slider or tripod kit.

Best regards,

Not in LA, and not mainly a still photographer, but if you would pass on my thoughts.... I sometimes use a monopod in what many would consider run-n-gun situations where I need to cover a lot of ground quickly. When shooting video like this I mainly use fast zoom lenses and a monopod. As an example, a low budget shoot for a car dealership where I need to shoot both B-Roll video on the lot, as well as still photos. My current monopod is a multi-stage, and to fully extend or collapse you need to work multiple latches to adjust the height to the proper level. What I would love to see is a monopod where a single push of a button would let me adjust the overall height. That would be a huge time saver!

Thanks!

Dave

Also not in LA and not a still photographer but I have an RT30B with an RH25R fluid head.

I love this kit and use it mostly for stage presentations (opera, plays) where I have to frequently zoom from full stage to a solo singer/small group and track them as they go across the stage.

The kit I have lets you manage a 7 lb cam with one finger.

I like the two stage spreader (some say it is flimsy, do not agree at all), I like the 2-stage extension releases, I like the rubber feet (easy to put on/take off).

The head I have has only two drag positions, I wish it had three. There are other models that offer more.

I'd like a high quality monopod fluid head. Something light weight, flat based of course, and a step up from Manfrotto/Benro in terms of smoothness.

I love my manfrotto 561 BHDV but I wish I could find a quality small fluid head suitable for GH4 sony A7s size cameras, I hate having a head almost as big as the camera and a great big plate on such a small camera.
