GH2 Lexar Profesisonal

Does anyone have any experience using the Lexar 128GB SDXC Memory Card Professional Class 10 UHS-I?

Is it the 400x or 600x?

Are you running the GH2 at stock or a hack? Which hack?

Great cards and don't know if I told you before but install Sanity Hack 5 and stop worrying about hacks and go and shoot. That quality is MORE than enough for anything you will do with this camera..... GO OUT AND SHOOT!

I have been shooting, lots of tests and even four paid gigs so far.

I prefer the AN Dewnet Soft hack myself. The footage looks just flawless. And it spans just fine on the 64GB SanDisk Extreme at 24H, but I do lose recording time due to the bumped up bitrate. I was hoping to resolve that with this new Lexar 128GB, but I do need spanning to work, preferably with the AN hack.

A lot of people shoot paid gigs..... Show me video footage with Sanity 5 hack vs the hack you are currently using..... I'm 99.999999% sure there is no difference at all, and even if there is it is very very pixel peeping difference.

Basically telling you we get to caught up with the hacks when in reality they are better than stock and all provide great footage. Don;t get caught in tests and enjoy your camera and stop buying and wasting money on hard drives and memory cards for little difference quality wise.

Sanity doesn't seem to have the features I want, namely spanning in 24H no matter what lens or camera settings I'm on.

Sanity 5 is unified for NTSC and PAL - there is only one version.
Spanning works with 24L, FH, SH & H modes. When spanning, do not go above ISO 5000 and do not use ETC. Spanning works in HBR mode with third party manual lenses. Do not go above ISO 3200. Spanning does not work reliably in HBR mode when using Panasonic lenses.

Exactly.

I need spanning at 24H at very high ISOs and in ETC.

So far, AN7 offers me that, and the image looks fantastic, so I'm planning on sticking with it. I'd just like to up the recording times a bit with this new Lexar.

Have you tried Lee Powell's FlowMotion ver 2.02 patch?

It's one of the few high performance variable bit-rate patches, that still gives you 2 hours of 24H recording using a 64GB SDXC UHS-I card.

I haven't. But like Sanity, it doesn't offer spanning at 24H.

Really guys, I'm not so much interested in changing patches. Only in how well this new 128 GB Lexar works for folks who have actually used it.

What are you shooting at over 3200 iso and in ETC mode?
I don't care what hack you use, your footage is going to look terrible at that iso + ETC mode that adds even more grain..... Please let me know what you are shooting that requires this as I just don't believe it....

...Actually, FlowMotion ver 2.02 does offer spanning at 24H, which is one of the reasons I have standardized on it.
( my longest recording to date is 110 minutes of a symphony concert, with room to spare on a 64GB SDXC card )

The trick is you need a SDXC UHS-I card that is fast enough to span when shooting 24H. I shoot with the SanDisk 64GB SDXC UHS-I 95MB/sec cards, and have recently started shooting with a $45 Patriot EP 64GB SDXC UHS-I card, which so far has had no problems spanning at 24H using FlowMotion ver 2.02. ( cheapest card I know that can do this )

OK, definitely took a wrong turn here. This thread isn't specifically about hacks.

I'm really just interested in how the Lexar Professional 128GB card performs. Has anyone actually used this card yet?

Anecdotal feedback may not be the most useful when it comes to sizing up the performance of a memory card.

I would benchmark your card ( the free ATTO benchmark is a quick and easy test to perform ), and then stress-test it by recording a highly detailed image with lots of movement.

To simplify and standardize my stress-test, I use the ancient and essentially free "Nature Scene" benchmark from the old Futuremark 3dmark 2001se app, running in an endless loop on a laptop display.

If the card is able to span properly while recording the stress-test at 24H, then you are pretty much good to go.

My goal here was more to find out if there are known issues before I even buy the card. If six people chime in and say it worked great, I might risk a buy. But if those same six said it failed on them, I'd just stick with the SanDisk Extreme Pro.

So again...if anyone has actually used the card, please let me know how it performed for you.

I'd like to know how they perform also. there is not much of a price difference from the 600x vs sandisk extreme pro on b&h, just a tad cheaper. it says max write speed 45MB/s vs sandisk 90MB/s. typo?

I just wanted to post that I tested the SanDisk Extreme (not Pro) 128GB SDXC Class 10 UHS-I. It spans just fine at both 24H and 24L using the Cluster v7 'Apocalypse Now - Nebula' 6 GOP Settings. However, I could not get in-camera playback to work at all, even after a restart.

Still, 3+ hours using AN at 24H is nice, and over 6 hours at 24L. Not bad for $150.
