Letus35 Mini - HORRIBLE VIBRATION SOUND!

i recently bought a Letus35 Mini for my HMC40. Letus's website says under the description for the adaptor, 'Virtually silent vibration system that will not interfere with microphones'

when i use it, that is about the ONLY thing i can hear! It's so loud and annoying! i pretty much will never be able to use the internal microphone on my camera if i ever shoot anything with the adaptor. or if i do, i'm going to need to get someone to run a shotgun mic or use a lav mic, but who knows if i'll still here it even in those cases as well!

has ANYONE had this problem with their letus? i've emailed them but they haven't responded yet.

here's a video i uploaded to vimeo of the issue. it should be fully done encoding in like 20 minutes from when i post this so if it doesn't work right away you might have to check it later.

either way, is anyone else having this issue and is it normal?

yea but i mean i would want to sometimes shoot some side things with my adaptor that doesn't involve writing a script, calling in some lighting crew, getting a sound team together, preping a shot, or any of that.

maybe i might want to just shoot something spontaneous. something simple. but whatever i shoot, i'm going to hear that vibration noise

Yeah that's normal, at least with my letus extreme. If for some reason I need to use the on camera mic I just don't turn the letus on. Honestly I can't tell the difference between it being on and off. On quite a few shoots I have forgotten to turn it on for some shots and when I look at the footage I can't tell when it was on and when it was off.

you might not be setting the focus right on the glass frame of the lens in that case. if you've got it set right, you'd be able to tell.

make sure you zoom in only enough to fill the screen with white while the lens isn't on, then point your camera at a light source, and then slightly move it away just a bit. then use your focus assist if you have it, and try focusing on the grain then with the adaptor turned off.

don't do what i did and zoom all the way in on the camera, focus on the grain, then pull out. it won't work right that way
