All of this was very early test stuff where I was really just testing lighting and practicing with the focus...

Just got back from New York with an Hour of footage! After I get it edited, I'll post...

Now if I could just get a focus assist, HD camera, Rail Support System, SteadiCam, more lenses... I might be happy :)
But still in college so those might have to wait...

Wow. I need to get me one o' dem thangies.

Couple of questions... any color correction done on those clips (I'm assuming so)?? How bout camera settings? shooting mode??

Way to show the drummer with some nice beats, and never let us hear one of thier songs. :dankk2:

p.s welcome aboard.

< Couple of questions... any color correction done on those clips (I'm assuming so)?? How bout camera settings? shooting mode?? >

The first video was untouched... straight from the camera to final cut to compressor.
Camera settings were zoom 85, focus 85, no auto white balance, Open Iris, and 24pA recording mode

Second video only had 2 shots where i messed with it in post. The first and last shots of my buddy (micah - red eyes, constantly laughing, shinging a flashlight on himself, looking for food in the fridge, can you guess?) were brightened a tad because they were just a little dark due to the lack of light in the cabin. Same settings as first video except for the auto white balance was on.

Third video of the drummer... same camera settings as the second video... First 2 shots of the guitar player I bumped up the brightness and contrast (again a bit dark) and the rest is all normal except for the soft glowing shots that i randomly applied a basic filter to a few of them for a dreamy little effect (just for shyts and giggles) If you couldn't tell these were the 1st shot of the drummer, the shakey shot behind him, and the guy (Russ) walking to the car... oh yeah and the recording equipment shots were also brightened. Dark little places don't mix well with these adapters.

Thanks for the comments... I hope to post more footage soon

Hi!

This is my first post, even though I have been enjoying this website for a few months. I have just been introduced to camera work, specifically the DVX, so I am a newbie and might ask a few silly questions. :) Please bear with me.

But, I love this footage. Until today I have never heard of the Letus35.
Is it like the P+S Technik mini35? If so, how does it compare in quality?

Thank you so much!
:)

i think the second and third clips were a tiny bit soft-strangely enough-in the out of focus areas of the image. the first one was great. with all the different lenses. and that guy in the first clip---very handsome guy!!!

The Letus35 is the same in the sense if what the device does. But quality-wise I wouldn't compare them... we're talking a difference of about 8 grand here. There's a bunch of adapters out there, some people make them themselves.

I found out about the adapters from a panasonic HVX200 brochure i got in a videography magazine. It had the G35, the M2 and the mini35 all in there as third party accessories. I searched them and started reading about them, watched some sample footage and got a woody. I knew i had to have one.

What made me go for the Letus was the reviews of how the maker, Quyen, was very helpful and a smart technician who continues to upgrade his product. I liked the fact that it didn't need a rod support system even though its recommended. Also the price was nice being under a grand with no tax or shipping costs. But the main thing that hooked me was that it had both nikon and canon lens mounts and that the image was already flipped! I haven't seen another adapter that has all those qualities.

Good acting? Handsome? thanks guys... In all honesty I would rather be in front of the camera than behind it :)

drummer shots were just plain blurry to me.the others seemed better. jmho.
then again I am jeaolous of your camera

Yeah, the drummer ones were quite the experiment... i found myself trying to pull the focus back and... whoops, i was turning it the wrong way. It takes some practice i guess and i wouldn't recommend the run and gun approach. The DOF is inches on my 50mm lens so if i moved or my subject moved... blurry blurry.

Tradur... I'll trade you it for a HVX200... sound good? :) haha
