Letus Ultimate - RELEASED!

Question:

Can the L-Rizer be mounted upwards?

figured, probably going to be mounting it on an o'connor / steadicam / crane of some sort that it won't fit due to the rear counterbalance battery system that I will put on.

That's mah boy. You crack me up, man.

I can't help it Kholi...Don't try to steal someone elses shine. You can start a whole new thread to tout your favorite manufacturers new wares. I'm not even in the market for a new adapter, but the ultimate is a work of art and these guys deserve the shine they are getting. I bought Quyen's first diy kit and to come from there to now...get your own damn thread.

Looking at the Ultimate, and comparing it to the Extreme, they seem very similar, except that one has vibrating glass and the other spinning glass ala Redrocks M2.

What I can't understand is the massive price difference between the Extreme and the Ultimate. It is so big it seems almost beyond comprehension.

Yes I understand there has been plenty of Research and developement, but to increase the price from $1200 ( within most people's range) to a whopping $4500 ( out of many people's range) doesn't make sense to me.

Three times as expensive, and the main difference is a spinning piece of glass powered by a motor which costs at the most a few dollars. The Redrock motor cost something like 99 cents.

The touch on/off and glass speed adjuster is great but is it really needed? I would quite happily not have it, and just have the simple on/off button, as the chances of me wanting to adjust the speed of the rotating glass is probably never.

Bring the price down to $1800 for a limited period and they would fly off the shelves in their hundreds. Keep them at $4500 and a large majority of shooters will make do with their LEX, M2, SGPRO and Breavis.

We all would like one. But the price hike is massive.

Just my opinion and I am sure others will counter by saying it's well worth paying the large extra amount. That's great if they can afford to upgrade again.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a trade in option either like when they released the Extreme. Still, even at that I don't know if I could stomach paying another 3K even if they gave full value of my extreme with PL mount. Limited time special would practically pry the money out of my wallet. Otherwise it almost makes more sense to just buy another eextreme (for me anyway). Dual cameras, more rentals etc.

Guys, keep in mind that the target market is not Extreme buyers, it's for those users who ren or buy the mini35 or MovieTube adapters. There is much more to this adapter than just a new spinning GG unit. It basically has a small computer built into it and having the ability to vary the motor speed is invaluable for those using variable frame rates and faster shutter speeds, etc.

This adapter is ground breaking and, for the league it's in, the price is also ground breaking. Don't compare it to the SGPro or the Extreme, compare it to the mini35, etc.

This is a sexy machine indeed, and while the control seems to be amazing, I am interested to see how comparison tests are going to be between it and the new SG Blade.

You said it all. You nailed it right on point!

Guys, keep in mind that the target market is not Extreme buyers, ....

And we always thought that Leetus was about us. That's why there is such a warm feeling for Letus products. We feel left behind, left hanging, even betrayed.

The main problem with us not being about to get that piece of equipment without bleeding inside is the consequential yet subtle message Letus is sending to us:

"LOOK AT THE PRICE DIFFERENTIAL AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT WHATEVER LETUS PRODUCT YOU BOUGHT FROM US BEFORE IS CRAP."

We felt so special that we'd found a company that would give us the best thing IN OUR LEAGUE for a price IN OUR LEAGUE!

Nope. I've already tried with my 2 Extremes which I haven't used yet. I was told (and I do understand) that the Ultimate is in a league of its own and that at the moment, the Lee brotehrs don;t have any upgrade plan between the EX and the U.

Since I received that Ultimate email this morning, I've been seeing my LEX very differently. And that alone takes so much of my confidence in the product. I don't know if I'm lonely in that context.

The thing is that the other adapters are always improving too. The new Brevis also uses a computer controlled system and the SGblade also utilizes a spinning glass. They're not standing still. I love Letus as a company and really want to upgrade but if I'm looking at 3K difference in comparable adapters its hard to make the move. Letus really made the other adapters step up to the plate with the inverted image and 1/2 stop loss. Like I said a 2K pricepoint would rip he money out of my hands and I would probably still keep my Extreme. I can understand that they're looking for a different market and r&d isn't cheap, but the fact is I really want one and now I'm grumpy cause its out of reach.

But you guys.... the ultimate probably costs more to manufacture than the extreme is to buy outright.

The R&D Hien put into it, the manufacturing gear up, retool, etc... is staggering in cost. Plus the fact they built one that seems to be perfect in all respects.

Its not deigned to be a "i own my own 35 adapter". it seems like it is designed to repalce the mini35 at rental houses, and give people who make 100% of their living off rentals,/ or cinematography a viable no compromises option that wont hinder them in their work.

I will be buying one as an investment in my business. I make my living off my SGpro. Literally. I rent one out, and shoot 3-5 days a a week on the other one... My lens package is top notch and my kit provides great images, the ultimate will let my glass shine.....

It is a very good looking product, and yes expensive, but I suspect that once you've used it, the price would make 100% sense.

I assume the lens mount (for nikon) is also in a different class as on the extreme?
