Letus Rods now available

We took the picture at it's highest position just to show how high it can go. Of course when you setup, you can lower it down to the lowest possible level that with work with other accessories, like matte box.

Thanks,

I was thinking about becoming a trapeze artist myself.

Back on topic, I just ordered the Letus Extreme with the support rod setup....can I substitute the rod for the new rod system?

Just wondering, what rod length are you guys looking at purchasing?

Also, can anyone describe the benefits of having a 45cm rod over the 30 with the extensions or vice versa?

This never got answered and I think its a good question. I'm having the same thought. The 30 with the 15 would allow you to go for a 30 or a 45 set up depending on how much stuff you had. If you didn't want an MB then you could probably be fine with the 30mm? then you could add the 15mm on when you needed it.
But it seems like since the Letus uses the double-risers you need that extra length, because unlike the Cavision and Cinevate you can't hang the camera mounting plate off the back of the rods, right? So with that in mind, if you wanted for example to have a FF, MB, and throw some Cavision handgrips/shoulder mount, and a noga arm for a display, then you might need the 45mm + the 15mm.
Any thought from others with more rail experience? Is the 30mm alone not even gonna cut it for the Letus Rails when you only have an HVX, LEX, and Lens on it? If so would the 15mm add-on be enough to add a MB and other stuff?

It all depends on your setup. My rig, with the mattebox, longer lenses like my 105mm Micro 2.8 and with the Anton Bauer battery on the back end takes the 24" (61cm) rods. I also have the 18" (45.7cm) rods that I use with the physically shorter lenses like the 50mm 1.4 and the 85mm 1.8.

This is kind of like building a hot rod, you have to think of all eventualities that you can. If you want to use the long lenses with a matte box and if you are ever going to mount a battery system or monitor on the rear, you need the longest rods you can find like the 24" ones that Red Rock sells. OTOH, I think all of the systems I have seen with tons of extra unused rod length hanging in front of the lens and behind the camera looks really stupid. You should only have extra long rods on your rig if you are going to use them.

Other than that, "you'll poke your eye out kid..."

Rail extensions are a big plus in my book. I love my current cinevate rails setup, but the only thing I wish it had were threaded rods for extensions.

I guess one could always replace their existing rods with zacuto rods. They have a very wide variety of extensions to fit anyones needs.

Just ordered the Letus Rails. It was between CineVate and Letus. Cinevate seemed like a great bang for the buck until I factored in the $50 shipping compared to the free Letus shipping. So it was less than $100 difference and the rail extensions secured my interest. I went for the 30cm + 15cm setup, without the bracket (because I ordered one with the extreme) and it totalled $379 shipped. That's not bad. Now I just have to wait 3 weeks for their arrival. hmmm.
I'll take pics and give a review when they get here.

I have a prototype of the new IndiRails support system on the way....

I will post pics when It arrives. Its good to see so many companies responding to the Letus with new solutions....Letsus rails look very cool...

Is there a weight listed anywhere for the Letus rails? I am wondering if there is a significant difference between the Cinevate and the Letus setups.
