Letus Rod Support System

I have a question for the Letus folk.

The support raiser that came with the letus extreme has been extremely handy when mounting on rails to sling from underneath, the adapter. Unfortunately, it tends to slide down and down, until it gets to the point where its not actually supporting the weight anymore, so i have to always check to see if the screw has slipped down slightly. Any way to fix this?

I would wait for the Letus rods, at the moment I am using the cinevate rods but I think there are some problems with it that seem to be fixed on the Letus.

But if you really need rods right now, the CineVate rods do work. But expect a lot of problems sliding stuff on and off the carbon rods. And its all a bit too flexible. (will write up a review of my stuff this week to explain my probs)

any news on this? I need a timeframe to see if I should go for the CineVate now or wait this out.
thanks.

Great. Really looking forward to a review. I've just sold my IndiRails because I want something that is an upgrade and easier to deal with, quick to mount the camera on, etc. I'd love to find out how much the Letus Rails are going to weigh, and cost, and when they are coming out. If they are like $400 and coming out in late January I don't know if I can wait. Thanks.

Hmmm. Well, if you don't need to adjust/remove the support much, you could switch out the thumb screw with an allen head screw and torque it down. I'll do some testing and see if I can come up with any other ideas.

I can't officially comment on the rods as that is Hien's baby... I do know we are planning on having them available soon (NOT late January). I'm sworn to secrecy so I'm keeping my mouth shut on any official announcements on the support rods and/or other goodies that may or may not be in the works ;)

really? thats too bad. because im sure some of us would have held out on buying things if we knew what was coming in store :) hehe.

I second what papa is saying about the Letus raiser. It will NOT tighten to the indierails 18". My raiser came with the allen head screw. I screwed it VERY tight but it still slides. Any news on when Letus is coming out with the rods?

I thought PaPa was saying the vertical support screw was the one slipping on him. If you can't get it to tighten to the CF rods of the IndiRails then that is a different issue. CF has a tendency to vary in diameter. If you can't tighten it down enough, your rods are probably a hair under 15mm.

Hi DeGrey,

Yes, that's probably the reason. I'll have to check with Tim regarding the size of the rods. Maybe Hien will have the rod system soon.

Just use a washer with the verticle riser for the Letus. It distributed and pressure and creates more friction. I can push mine as hard as Ilike and it won't budge.

thanks waefre, i'll give that a try. My other problem is the indierails raiser block that holds the camera is too short height wise for the hv20 cameras. Even with the Extreme sitting on the rails, it's still too high for the hv20 to line up correctly. I need to find a solution to raise the hv20 a little more (very frustrating).

I have that problem as well...even though I'm using a DVX. The indirails block doesn't allow for the 85mm offset. I'm looking into cinevate rails or these new letus rails.

Hi Malcolm, hopefully letus rails will be available soon. I don't know how heavy your Economy is but the Extreme is a beast weighing in at 4lbs. Definately need to sit on rails.
