Letus rod support + Spidebrace

Hi!

A friend of mine has the Spiderbrace shoulder support, and I wanted to try it with my HVX + Letus extreme. The only problem is that the letus rods are in the way:

Now i don't want the camera mounted all the way up on the rods... I would also like to be able to put the camera down on a table, and have it balanced which is not possible now with these support brackets. They're getting really annoying... Anyone found a solution?

which is why i hate camera risers.

you can raise everything so that it's no longer an issue, or saw them down to size.

Solution = Saw :(
But keep enough room to allow for follow focus / matte box / long lens support etc... (don't saw too short).
Also, How's the pvc spiderbrace feel with all that weight on it? (shouldn't it break?)

I'm using the same setup with cinevate rails and all I had to do was move the mounting plate(the one that attaches from the rails to the spiderbrace) up towards the front until the back camera base was clear of the spiderbrace handle.

It sits perfectly balanced on a table.

Hmm I think the only way to make it fit is to saw everything off.... keeping a little bit of room is even too much.. but indeed, for future use of mattebox etc.. i don't want to saw the whole thing off...

I haven't tested the spiderbrace with the hvx, but it worked fine on a sony fx1 with letus extreme and 50mm lens. HVX is a bit heavier, but haven't been able to test it cause of the mounting thing..

just have the camera on a slight diagonal. I had the same issue.

Can you turn the mounting plate of the spiderbrace?

That could work, but I think then the front support bracket is in the way. And will I still be able to watch the LCD when the camera is mounted that way?

I believe you would solve this issue by getting the Spiderbrace 1 instead of 2.

Why is that? Looks like the Spiderbrace 1 and 2 are almost identical, except 2 is for the heavier camera's...

Thanks for the replies.
