Letus Mini - GG pattern issues even at f2,8?

Hi, with my LetusMini I can see a static GG-pattern even at f=2.8. This is weird because I read that I should normally be abled to go down to f=4-5 !?

This is really a problem because like this I can only get super-shallow-DOF at f=2 ... has anyone an idea what might be wrong/changable?

Best regards
Hannes

What is your shutter speed set at? In general, the reason you see patterns on a moving gg is because your shutter speed is too high. With static adapters like the G35, you see grain when you stop down the lens rather than when you put up the shutter speed.

Hi, thanks for your comment.

I had my HV20 in Cinemode locked on 1.8 with 1/50 shutter speed. So, i guess that this is as it should be :(

I'm using a Nikon 50mm f=1,4.

Any other ideas?

Had the same issue as you - begun by making my own wax screens and this produced good results but it had issues - ended up going for an sgblade and have never been happier.

My advice - spinners are better at this than vibrating ones. If that is not an option consider DIY glass screens. Experiment with different grit sizes to let more light through. Use faster lenses - F 1.2 .

I have been there and done it all - wax screens, diy discs - sometimes it's better to go to the pros - Shoot35 produce some stellar stuff.

Hey, have you produced these DIY-Screens for your Letus or for a DIY adapter? I'm not shure if they'd work with a Letus.

From my point now I'd love to get an SgBlade instead of the Letus but I would'nt make enough money with the Letus if I'd sell it and for the 800€ I'd pay for a new sgblade, I could buy a video DSLR ... merde! :P

I dont want to use a faster lens because this gives me too shallow DOF.

Yes I produced the diy screens for the mini - I still have it lying around here. Bought a whole heap of microscope slides and ground away.
You can always stop faster lenses down. To be honest the mini never did it for me - there are some nice cheaper adaptors now than the blade and yes a dslr is in the same price point. If you can get around the nagging issues they shoot amazing video.Adaptors are going away at some time but not for a while yet. However the mini never convinced me to stay - only the sgblade.

Good luck and I hope you find a nice solution.
