Letus Flip Enhanced - Stills from Boston

All,
I took some footage of Boston, over the Charles River, and decided to show some stills. They're not bad, but I hadn't replaced the batteries for the vibrating GG and you can see a little of the grain. Not that bad though. Check them out.
[P.S. I'm having trouble getting Final Cut to recognize my camera and can't seem to fix the sizing problem, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know]

hi john, don't take this the wrong way,but for people looking to make an investment into the letus fe, these stills would be very detering.what lenses are you using and are you properly focusing on your ground glass?sorry if this sounds harsh.

Actually, this is my problem. I'm completely focussed on the GG. When I turn off the vibrating GG, I see major grain from the GG. No matter what I've done, I can't seem to get the image any crisper than that. It's aggrevating. I'm using Nikon lenses. They're pretty expensive. I tried switching out to Canon lenses, but I get the same result. Any help?

john,i've recently purchased the sgpro which is a realy nice adapter, but for the canon a1 using the same lenses withe my new letus fe have giving me in my opinion 20% sharper images then the sgpro that i was using.there must be a calibration issue with your adapter or it possibly defective.we have the same camera and my images are the same in image quality as disjescta.i'll post stills later.

Thanks, that'd be great. I'm not sure why I always get a grainy look. I mean, I have a degree in Cinema. I know how to shoot. I'm assuming that it's got to do with the adapter. I think I'm going to do a lot of experiements over the next few days and try to figure out what it is. I mean, shooting 24F at 1/48th shutter speed at 1080i, focussed completely on the GG, with fresh batteries in the vibrator (and with it turned on, ha), should produce some decent (and by decent, I mean "grain-free") images. I look forward to seeing your stills and any more help you can provide.

And by the way, the whole reason I bought the Letus and A1 was because of Disjecta's footage. It looked marvelous and now I'm not able to get anywhere near that crisp of an image. It's pretty aggrevating.

Set your gain to -3 vs 3..Also I have the SGpro and it is much clearer than when I had the Letus. It might by you need to do the 1mm backfocus adjustment. I too use a Canon A1.

How do I do this 1mm backfocus adjustment? And that will help with the grain issue? Thanks so much for your help.

hey there i have stills up from my canon al and letus fe.all 50mm nikons.oh another thing, make sure your bateries are fresh in your letus.my post is in the 35mm section.

Perhaps some shots that aren't so wide would show off the shallow focus capabilities...

Well, I have tons of other photos, but I guess now this thread is more of a "save john's letus" thread. Since everyone says that it shouldn't be that grainy and that mine is not representative of the typical Letus. We're working on fixing it now. I'm not sure how, though. I'll attach a photo of just the A1 so you can see the difference. The grain is much more noticable with the Letus on, so it's not really the A1. I look forward to any help I can get. Thanks.

[the attached photo was taken today with just the A1, sans Letus]

Here is some short footage taken WITHOUT the Letus...notice the difference:
