I bought anawrot's letus flip he had for sale a couple of weeks ago. I took it out filming for the first time with my recently purchased DVX100a.

Test Footage http://www.rit.edu/~msd6154/media/Inline_Letus35mm_H.264.mov (Right Click Save As 50mb)

Focusing was pretty hard since I shot this all handheld without a follow focus or support rods.

Some of the footage was rather pink/purple. Watch for the white balance.

The letus is simply amazing. The whole focus issue is just a matter of practice and planning the shots when doing a feature. I think the footage whenever they were under the entrance to the building was better in terms of contrast. Good job though!

the videoclip is much better than the soft stills...

I love some of the lighting...any reflectors or ?

i definately think the pink look in some of the video was dont on purpose as it looks very artistic and nice.

i really like the letus bokeh, but im scared to see how it looks indoors.

Papa, theres nothing to be scared of, indoors the footage is all black!

Seriously though, don't think you can film indoors without some proper lighting equipment. The CC was done using the three way CC in FCP...I'm just beginning to learn and understand color correcting so I can understand if some people might not like it. Also I was filming around dawn so that helped provide some decent lighting. No reflectors were used - all natural lighting.

If the pink was done on purpose then it's a matter of taste. But for me it didn't seem consistent with some of the other shots. It's just a color I try to stay away from when color grading -- just a personal preference, that's all!

None of those grabs are really in focus, but I imagine w/ a bit of practice this thing can looks pretty damn good. I gotta get me a 35 adapter soon.

so what i gather is all the wonderful artists shots are fillmed on the dvx and all the actual skating is on a sony VX2000 series. lol, gotta love it. Nice shots tho.

ditto...

worked with Joey Lawrence, VampireSoup this weekend on a short using a Letus35....results were great but the upside down takes some time to get used to..

nice work man. Loved the sky in the background... that's what makes it look like film to me.

the image flipping can be cured with a simple magnet. Works like a charm.

Letus evening/night shots

Letus evening/night shots

Yo MSD, do you mind posting some letus clips that are shot say late in the evening or night time so we can see how it performs under low light? cos that would be great! thanks..

the fotage looks mighty impressive! want to get myself one but need to save! and certainly wantto know its performance under low light!

nice!!!!!
msd, is the image a lot grainier with the letus than without on the dvx100 (i mean .... looking at the uncompressed footage)?

The grabs look ok, but rather out of focus and in need of some color correction. I bet they would look nice with some more contrast.

Delaro...Yes, with all adapters, a certain look and quality is inherent. The letus is a little more grainier than other 35mm adapters but the look suites me. Also the first stills suck compared to the others kormiskster

Ok guys...Love the vids.
I have a DVX100B (about 3 weeks now) and still can't seem to achieve the look that I want.
Could anyone help me?
I guess I can start by asking what settings were used when the skate films were shot?
Anybody know?
I understand that there were lens adaptors used, but the reason I ask is because I get a ton of blur in my 24p settings...no matter the shutter speed and all that.
If I could get some input on what settings, like the skate vids, work best for that clean but dirty film look, that would be great.
Thanks a bunch!
Tim
