Letus Extreme Footage

Please keep in mind the following as you watch this:

1. I was working with a pre-release version of the adapter.
2. This was all shot at 24f using a Canon XHA1
3. The colors are on the warm side for two reasons, it was sunset and I balanced it for warm colors.
4. There is no sound

I am including a 720 version for those with slower computers and a 1080 version which will, of course, be closer to the original.

I will be doing more tests this weekend. I know you are all looking for indoor footage and variable shutter speed stuff...I just have not had time to do it and I am also working on a crippled computer.

I'll do my best to answer any questions but the footage should speak for itself.

I included shots with my 100mm, 50mm and 28mm....the wide shots were done just to show the detail captured.

1080 version:

Special thanks to Jason at DVXUser for hosting the files and Mikko for being willing...I may need your services again soon, Mikko :)

I will be checking on and off but don't expect immediate responses to your questions.

Anthony, while I appreciate you putting a link to your own stuff, I would like to keep this on the topic of the Letus Extreme only.

Thank you

ok sorry' so how do you like the new letus Extreme
am thinking about getting one I have the letus flip, and it works out cool for me
however,is it worth the 1,500 if so am going to give them time to work the kinks out,and then get one. 1,500 not bad.

Can you show some zoom lens footage like a 28mm - 80mm. with the full zoom range. I'll like to know if there is vigenetting when using zoom lenses. Like a shot of you zoom out or zooming in.

Would like to see different and faster shutter speed footage if possible. Really like the edge to edge sharpness of the extreme. Just concerned about the noise issue.

Thanks

Not that kind of noise.

Not that kind of noise.

What noise issue? If you're referring to the motor, it's practically silent; only an on-camera mic could possibly hear it at all, if even then -- and if you were using an on-camera mic, you're fired anyway. :)

No Barry, I was talking about visual noise that can occur with vibrating adapters.

I'm actually posting this question based on a post you made referring to the issue, I could be mistaken but I believe the solution you gave was to use the stock lens for faster shutter speeds, and frame rates.

Ah -- grainy muddy noise in the image, okay. Gotcha.

Well, all I can tell you is that it's much improved on the Extreme. You can go to 1/120th without concern, and almost get away with 1/250th. At 1/60th there's no grain at all introduced by the adapter -- unless you stop your still-camera lens down. At wide-open, no grain; at f/4 there's minimal; at f/5.6 it starts showing up. Faster shutter speeds will make that happen sooner and stronger.

Man I need to see some HVX + Letus EX Full Rez footage.

This stuff is killer. =( I'm just afraid of not being able to stop down the lens beyond 5.6.

Disjecta/Barry: can either of you stop down the lens if the actual camera's shutter is still at 180d and still avoid the vibrating pattern?

It doesn't really show the vibrating ground glass at 5.6, it just starts to layer the smudge on. If you dropped to 1/24 you could probably easily do 5.6, but then the smudge'd probably come in at f/8.

The vibrating pattern is related to faster shutter speeds, not really f-stops. The faster you set your shutter, the more you can "freeze" the ground glass pattern and see it move.
