Letus 35 - To Rail or not to Rail

Ok, here's the situation.

I have just bought a Letus35FE. I have mounted it but do not yet have a rail system in place. I know Quyen has said I don't need one, and at the moment it seems to be holding the weight well. But my friends and other ppl on this forum has said I should have one as prolonged stress from the weight may damage the front element of the DVX? any tips. I can't get one from the US cos it'll probably cost too much to ship etc so if I wanted a rail system, I'd have to get one machined for me (alot of work).

Out of interest, how much would a rail cost in the US?

Thanks

Yep those are the rails- and you'll need them! While you can get away with out them- I wouldn't recommend it- all that constant weight on the fron of your lens- once that lens breaks you are out of a camera - quite a spendy proposition IMO.

I'm not sure what the exact price is on it- as their price sheet says that the prices are different if not ordered with a matte box. If ordered with a matte box you'll be spending about $242 US for the rods and plate.
